Chief Executive

Mike Potts
Mike joined us in October 2006 as Chief Executive. He has over 30 years NHS experience and has held senior posts in the North East of England and Merseyside before moving to Yorkshire in 1984. He has worked extensively in acute hospitals, primary care and across health and local authority services in both commissioning and operational management roles. Mike holds a masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) and is a member of the Institute of Healthcare Management. He lives in Barnsley.

Dr Judith Hooper
Judith was a GP in Newcastle and converted to public health in 1989, joining Kirklees in 1993. Her passion has always been tackling all factors that affect health and striving to reduce health inequalities. This has included implementing behavioural change programmes, joining up services and helping them to be user focused. She has extensive experience in health intelligence and health assessments using different techniques, as well as inter-agency working.

Ann Ballarini
Ann Ballarini was appointed as Director of Commissioning and Service Development for NHS Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield District Cluster in June 2011.
Ann worked in retail before commencing a 'second' career within the NHS in 1988. Ann qualified as a nurse, midwife and health visitor before moving into NHS management in 1999. She has held a number of senior management posts including Director of Clinical Services, Chief Executive in a South Yorkshire PCT from 2004/6 and Director of Strategy and Commissioning for NHS Wakefied District from 2006/2011.
Ann lives in Bassetlaw, just south of Doncaster with her husband and has two grown up daughters and two grandchildren. Her interests include gardening, reading and walking.

Sue Cannon
Sue joined NHS Calderdale as Executive Director for Quality & Engagement and provides strategic leadership for non medical professions. Sue brings a wide range of experience gained at board level through general management, commissioning, service improvement and leadership within acute, community and primary care. Sue has a professional background in nursing and health visiting. She is ambitious for patients, communities and staff with a passion for quality and patient safety.
Director of Performance and Commissioning Intelligence

Dr Peter Flynn
Peter has over 30 years experience in the information and IT industry, including 8 years in the NHS as a director. Originally trained as a physicist, then a database and information expert, he has led large IT and information projects focused on changing the performance of private sector companies and within the NHS. He is responsible for the PCT’s performance as assessed by the standards and guidelines set by the NHS and the Department of Health. In support of that he is also accountable for the acquisition of good quality information and the use of IT services as a key enabler for the PCT and GP practices’ commissioning functions.
