JSNA 2009 Summary - Summary document
Every local authority and Primary Care Trust has a new statutory duty to undertake a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) of their local population. The directors of adult social services, public health and children and young people’s services have to work together to develop the JSNA and it should form the basis for planning service development. It is seen as a key building block of the commissioning process. It provides an opportunity to look to the future - over the next 5, 10, 15 and 20 years - so that we can plan now for likely changes in needs. It is one of the major influences in directing our commissioning priorities.
