Drugs and alcohol

Know the risks

Drugs are chemicals that change the way a person’s body works. It’s important to know how drugs can affect you and what the risks are if you take them. You can never tell how strong they are. An accidental overdose could lead to unconsciousness or even death. Mixing different drugs, or mixing drugs with alcohol, can be very dangerous.

Signs that someone close to you might be using drugs:

  • Constantly tired
  • Keeping anti-social hours
  • Don’t want to eat
  • Not getting along with other people
  • Can’t concentrate
  • Mood swings and depression
  • New group of friends
  • School work or work is suffering

If you think you or anyone else has a problem with drugs it’s important to get help. Speak to a doctor, or find a support group.
