The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust
The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust serves primarily the communities of Wakefield District and North Kirklees, a combined population of around 500,000. It also serves patients from surrounding areas including South Leeds, North Yorkshire, Barnsley and Doncaster.
The Trust was formed in April 2002 from a merger of the former Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals NHS Trust and Dewsbury Health Care NHS Trust.
It provides a complete range of general hospital services from three main hospital sites - Pinderfields General Hospital, Dewsbury & District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary. In addition, day case and nurse led services are provided from Clayton Hospital in Wakefield and some services are provided at other facilities and clinics across the district.

Mental health and learning disabilities services in Calderdale, North Kirklees, South Kirklees and Wakefield have been brought together to form the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. It is one of the largest specialist mental health trusts in the country, serving a population of almost one million people from some 110 sites.

Kirkwood Hospice provides high quality specialist palliative care for patients, their families and carers, offering a voluntary service for people with life threatening illnesses. It offers nursing and medical care to people coping with illness in their own home, or as an in-patient in a purpose built unit.
Kirkwood Hospice has also designed a programme to help bereaved children cope with their feelings.
Day Care is also available at the Rosewood Centre based in the grounds of Dewsbury and District Hospital.
